Method
  1. Add all the ingredient, except the garnish, to a mixing glass, cocktail shaker or jug.

    Note: This is a stirred, not shaken cocktail.

  2. Fill the glass with ice.

  3. Stir the cocktail to get the drink to the correct temperature and dilution. Roughly 20-25 seconds, or until the drink is very cold.

  4. Strain into a chilled Nick & Nora or coupe style glass.

  5. Serve with the maraschino cherry, either placed in the glass or served on a cocktail pick.

Substitutions

At Rockpool we use Woodford Rockpool Double Oak but you can use standard double oak or any other bourbon that is more spice and oak forward.

At Rockpool we use a blend of vermouth but at home if you don’t have access to both you can simply use one or the other.

Bar Tips

Chill your glassware before serving. If you have space, chill your mixing glass too.

To batch ahead, double the recipe and add 20% water, then bottle and store in the freezer. Make sure the bottle is not filled to the top.

When ready to serve, pour straight from the freezer into a chilled glass and garnish.

Small measuring spoons with mL measurements are useful for cocktail recipes with precise quantities.

  • 15mL Cocchi Storico Vermouth di Torino
  • 10mL Cinzano 1757 Rosso Vermouth

  • 1.25mL Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur
  • 0.5mL Angostura Bitters
  • One Maraschino cherry for Garnish
